What’s Your Secret Sauce?

1.     Humor is a big one for me. Since one of my favorite things is making people laugh and I believe that is a gift to know our audience and connect with them through humor.
2.     Immense knowledge of history and international relations has helped me in finding a career in government and hoping toward a future in which I can use this knowledge for the betterment of the society.
3.     One of my best abilities is analyzing the room and seeking to know my audience especially trying to make a joke or trying to give a speech is quite important in mu opinion.
4.     My creativity is one of the best aspects of my human capital since I am able to come up with outlandish scenarios when creating a skit or even in describing an event in history but trying to put a comical spin on it.
5.     My ability to show care and compassion for others in difficult situations has helped me create great bonds with my friends and family, and has led me down a route that allows me to be myself.

Interviews:

My friend Mark who I have known for almost eight years now tells his account of my and how I am different from the rest. He details that my athleticism and knowledge on history makes me stand out from the pack. As well as how I have been there for him in rough times.

My friend Jack who I have also known for eight years details the important impact that I have had on him. Jack makes a point to point out that I am creative and go the extra mile.

My friend Daniel who I have known for about six years tells me how I am a leader. Specifically a leader in my fraternity here on campus and how it is not a task that everyone can handle.

My friend Muhammad who I have also known for eight years tells me how great of a friend I have been to him. He points out how I overcome obstacles and my empathy to others. Also that my open-mindedness if greatly important in how inclusive I can be.

The last interview was with my friend axel who I have known for almost four years. He highlights how loyal I am and that my sense of humor is great.

Reflection:

How I see myself is a bit different from how the general public sees me since I am rather quite in class or what have you, yet my closest friends know the real me. I think I assess myself the same way that others assess me since I try to keep things to a high standard. I believe that the interviewees are correct about me since they know me the best and have seen me at highs and lows, and have been there with me for many years. I guess the only correction I would make is my athleticism being added to the list since I did not believe that to be an important aspect of human capital.

  1. Hey Austin,
I liked how you were known as the history guy among your friends because I was also into history like you in high school. I'm glad that you were also able to identify some of your best human capital and that it matched what your friends said about you. It is critical for you to know yourself and your strengths because it goes hand in hand with your future aspirations.
    Best,
    Luis
