Solving the Problem

Problem: Caffeine addiction/ inability to stay awake throughout the day has caused many people to rely on coffee and energy drinks to stay attentive throughout the day.

My selected opportunity is a caffeine alternative that gives a similar response to that of a caffeinated beverage so that people do not become addicted to caffeine but receive the benefits of a caffeinated drink.
-       There are holistic, natural substitutes to caffeine that can be used to wake an individual up in the morning such as warm glass of lemon water and probiotics.
-       A particular problem is market penetration especially for coffee drinkers as seen in my interviews for a hypothesis. In addition, another issue is creating a holistic drink that already is not on the market that has added benefits without caffeine.

It would be a drink that can be hot or cold and would wake someone up in the morning and would be easier to prepare than coffee such as a lemon water or herbal tea mix. It is just to combat caffeine addiction and assist those trying to get over such an addiction. Maybe even a service that supplies these products with a subscription service.

  1. Hey Austin,
I think you have a great idea in mind and I like how you identified the main problem that people would have with a caffeine alternative: the originality of a the drink. There are many substitutes out there and it would be hard to distinguish your product from other caffeine alternative drinks. A good way to do that, though, is that have your own original blend that beats all other blends. With so many alternatives out there, all with varying effects, I imagine that there are certain combinations of ingredients that would yield better results than others. All it would take is time and experimentation, but it could prove useful. All in all, I think that you have a great idea.

  2. Hey Austin,
I agree that the issue with coffee and energy drinks is the dependency on them just to get through the day. As Samuel said, I think it would be a competitive market to enter but you could stand out with original flavors and how long your product's effects last on consumers. I like with your idea of being able to drink the product either hot or cold, so you could draw in those who drink both hot and iced coffee, great strategy.
